Topics and Speakers
Community Leaders Weigh-In on Issues Impacting Collier County Businesses
Real estate and land use attorney Dudley Goodlette will kick-off our conference with panelists Michael Dalby (President & CEO of the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce), Eileen Connolly-Keesler (President & CEO of the Collier County Community Foundation), and Andy Solis (Collier County Commissioner). The discussion will focus on hot-button issues facing Collier business owners, including planning, economic development, attainable housing, and future plans for Naples and Collier County.
All in the Family – Collier Family-Run Business Leaders Share Lessons for Longevity
Family businesses are the backbone of the American economy. They also face unique challenges, especially given the dynamics of family relationships adding to the complexity of running a business. In this session, trust and estate planning attorneys Anthony Cetrangelo and Amanda Dorio will moderate an entertaining discussion with Michael Wynn (President of Sunshine Ace) and Jaime Weisinger (Director, Community & Government Relations, Lipman Family Farms) who will share their secrets to running a successful family business.
Ways to Limit Exposure in Employment and Workers’ Compensation Claims
Attorneys Scott Atwood (Employment Law Group Chair) and David Roos (Workers’ Compensation Department Chair) will discuss current trends in employment and workers’ compensation laws so that businesses may take pro-active steps to reduce litigation. In part one, Scott will address claims involving retaliation, sexual harassment, same-sex discrimination, disability, as well as changes in wage and hour laws. In part two, David will share how timely investigations of reported work accidents can limit an employer’s liability in unemployment, EEOC, wrongful termination and retaliation related claims.
The Ever-Changing Landscape of Real Estate and Land Development in Collier
Attorney Jeff Wright, chair of the Henderson Franklin’s Land Use & Environmental Law Department will moderate a panel discussion with Robert Mulhere (President/CEO, Hole Montes, Inc.), David Farmer (PE, AICP, Metro Forecasting Models, LLC), and real estate attorney Amanda Barritt, chair of the firm’s Real Estate Department. The session will provide insight on various aspects of residential and commercial real estate and development in Collier County.
A Strategic Approach to Event Risk Management
Risk management continues to be a hot topic in the events industry, but the focus is always on reacting to a catastrophe or disaster. While catastrophes and disasters are horrific, they are the responsibility of governments not event professionals. Those involved in the events and tourism industries need to concentrate on being proactive. Keynote speaker Dr. Linda Robson, Professor at Endicott College in the Gerrish School of Business, will use the Robson Risk Management Model, case studies, and discussions to give attendees a better understanding of how to anticipate, prepare, monitor, and respond to risks at events.
A cocktail reception will immediately follow the presentations.
