Suzanne Boy concentrates her practice in employment law, assisting clients with all aspects of employment-related litigation, claims, and client counseling. She has experience representing employers in both federal and state courts, and has litigated actions under a variety of employment laws, including Title VII, ADEA, ADA, FLSA, FMLA, whistleblower statutes, and all types of retaliation. In addition to her litigation practice, Suzanne regularly assists her clients with employee handbooks; supervisory training; and employee termination, leave, and disciplinary issues, and she strives to help clients proactively and cost-effectively resolve workplace issues. She frequently speaks to businesses and professional groups on various employment matters, and serves as the lead writer of the firm’s Southwest Florida Employment Law Blog.
In addition to her employment law practice, Suzanne also handles a variety of commercial litigation matters, including contract and business disputes, foreclosures and bank-related litigation, and estate-related litigation. She serves as general counsel for several of her corporate clients. Suzanne also has an active civil appellate practice.
Suzanne has been recognized for her professional achievements and for her community involvement. In 2014, she was named one of Gulfshore Business Magazine’s Forty Under 40. Suzanne was also named to the Business Observer's 40 Under 40. list that same year. For six consecutive years, Suzanne was recognized by Florida Super Lawyers® magazine as a “Rising Star” in the field of business litigation (2010) and employment & labor (2011-2016). In 2012, she was one of 174 attorneys in the entire state of Florida selected as an “Up and Comer” by Florida Trend Magazine’s Legal Elite. She is also AV rated by Martindale Hubbell.
In law school, Suzanne was honored each year as a Stetson Merit Scholar. She served as an editor of the Stetson Law Review, and was awarded the St. Petersburg Times Award for Best Law Review Write-on Competition Paper. Suzanne is a native of Southwest Florida and was raised in LaBelle.
Suzanne has been on the SHRM SWFL board since 2012, and has served in various roles including President, President-Elect, Vice President of Membership, and Legislative Director. She is a Trustee for the Canterbury School, and serves on the Board's Executive Committee. Suzanne is a graduate of the 2012 Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce Leadership class. She previously served on the Chamber's Women in Business Committee, and was a founding member of its Leadership NEXT Committee.
Suzanne is a member of the Labor and Employment and Appellate Practice Sections of the Florida Bar, and is a member of the Lee County Bar Association. She is also chair of the Florida Bar Grievance Committee 20A.
