Erin Houck-Toll Re-Certified as a Florida Bar Board Certified Tax Law Expert
Henderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt, P.A., is pleased to announce that stockholder Erin Houck‑Toll has been re-certified by The Florida Bar as a Board Certified Tax Law attorney. She has held Florida Bar Board Certification in Tax Law since 2010 and also holds Board Certification in Health Law, which she has maintained since 2015.
Florida Bar Board Certification is the highest level of evaluation for attorneys in the state, recognizing substantial involvement, peer review, and demonstrated proficiency within a specific area of law. In fact, Edward Canterbury, Henderson Franklin’s Managing Lawyer, and a Florida Bar Board Certified Real Estate Lawyer, shares:
“Board certification is one of the most demanding credentials a Florida attorney can earn, and even more challenging to maintain over time. Erin’s long-standing certification speaks to her consistency, judgment and command of highly technical areas of law. That depth of knowledge and level of professionalism directly supports our clients as they navigate sophisticated tax, transactional, and regulatory issues.”
Houck-Toll serves as Chair of the firm’s Health Care, Mergers & Acquisitions, Business Organizations & Planning, and Tax practice areas. Her practice focuses on federal and state taxation, including representing taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service and the Florida Department of Revenue. She also advises clients on business planning, healthcare law matters, mergers and acquisitions, nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations, and related regulatory issues.
“Tax and health law issues rarely exist in isolation,” said Houck-Toll. “Board certification reinforces the discipline and depth required to help clients make informed decisions across complex regulatory and business environments.”
Houck-Toll’s leadership within the legal profession extends beyond her practice. She has served on the Florida Bar Tax Certification Committee, including as chair, where she reviews and evaluates applications for Tax Law Board Certification. Houck-Toll has also served on the Executive Council for the Tax Section of The Florida Bar.
In addition to her professional work, Houck-Toll is actively involved in the Southwest Florida community and serves on the Board of Directors of Special Equestrians, Inc., a nonprofit that provides therapeutic horseback riding and equine-assisted activities for individuals with disabilities across Lee, Charlotte, Hendry, and Glades counties.
Throughout her career, Houck-Toll has received numerous professional recognitions, including Gulfshore Business Magazine’s Top 40 Under 40, Naples Illustrated’s Top Lawyers, Florida Super Lawyers®, and Best Lawyers in America® across multiple practice areas.
Houck-Toll received her undergraduate degree from Cornell University, her J.D. from Tulane University (cum laude), and her L.L.M. (Taxation) from the University of Florida. She may be reached at erin.houck-toll@henlaw.com.
