Overview
Edward Canterbury is Henderson Franklin’s Managing Lawyer and a Florida Bar Board Certified Real Estate Lawyer. He represents clients in commercial and residential real estate development, acquisitions, real estate finance, title and survey matters and commercial leasing throughout Southwest Florida.
Edward works with real estate developers, builders, government agencies, lenders, nonprofit organizations and national title insurance underwriters on transactions and development matters. His experience spans the lifecycle of real estate projects, from acquisition and financing through development, title matters and leasing.
As Managing Lawyer, Edward oversees Henderson Franklin’s strategic direction and growth. Before assuming this role, he chaired the firm’s Real Estate Department, Associate Committee and Expansion Committee, giving him extensive experience in firm leadership and the development of attorneys and practice areas.
Edward has been selected for inclusion in the 2027 edition of Best Lawyers in America® for Real Estate Law. He was among 15 Henderson Franklin attorneys recognized in the 2027 edition. Edward has also been named a “Top Lawyer” in Real Estate Law by Naples Illustrated and a “Rising Star” by Florida Super Lawyers. In 2019, Gulfshore Business magazine named him to its “40 Under 40” list.

Edward graduated as valedictorian of his law school class, served as a Law Review associate editor and received numerous academic honors. He also gained experience as a federal judicial intern and with the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office.
Edward is a native of Ohio and currently resides in Fort Myers. He enjoys skiing, golf, and hiking.
Professional And Civic Affiliations
Edward is a past president of the Southwest Florida Real Estate Council and a member of the Real Estate Investment Society (REIS). Additionally, he serves on the Executive Committee Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties, Inc. and is a 2009 graduate of the Greater Fort Myers Chamber Leadership class.
