Employment Law Attorney Scott Atwood to Present at SHRM Naples Supervisors Summit

Labor & Employment Attornrey Scott AtwoodHenderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt, P.A., is pleased to announce that Employment Law Group Chair and SHRM Naples Legislative Chair Scott Atwood will be a featured presenter at the SHRM Naples Supervisors Summit on Friday, July 24, 2026, at the New Hope Event Center in Naples, Florida.

Atwood’s presentation, “Employment Law for New Supervisors,” will provide practical guidance on the legal responsibilities supervisors face in today’s workplace. The session will address employment laws impacting day-to-day management decisions, including discrimination and harassment prevention, wage and hour issues, accommodations, leave laws, and strategies for reducing organizational risk through effective leadership and communication.

“Supervisors are often the first line of defense when workplace issues arise,” said Atwood. “Understanding employment law fundamentals equips leaders to make informed decisions, foster positive workplace cultures and minimize legal exposure for their organizations.”

With more than 30 years of experience, Atwood advises entrepreneurs, public entities and businesses of all sizes throughout the United States, with a particular focus on Florida and Georgia. He represents employers in a wide range of labor and employment matters, including claims involving Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), whistleblower claims, restrictive covenants, and employment-related contract disputes.

A Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator, Atwood is also widely recognized for his work in employment law. As a former Chair of the Florida Bar’s Labor & Employment Section, he has been honored by Best Lawyers in America, Florida Super Lawyers, Georgia Super Lawyers, and Naples Illustrated. He currently serves as the Legislative Chair for SHRM Naples and sits on the University of Florida Law Alumni Council.
