Atwood Elected Secretary/Treasurer of The Florida Bar Labor & Employment Section

Henderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt, P.A., is pleased to announce that at the recent Florida Bar annual meeting in Boca Raton, Shareholder Scott Atwood was elected Secretary/Treasurer of the Labor & Employment Section. He is now slated to become President of the L&E Section in two years.

Atwood has been a member of the Florida Bar’s Labor and Employment Section Executive Council since 2011. In this role, he assists in formulating and implementing legal policy on the state and local level. Atwood previously served on the Florida Bar’s Board of Governors, including it’s Executive Council and Disciplinary Committee. He also is past President of the Lee County Bar Association, a former member of the 20th Judicial Circuit Professionalism Committee, a former member of the Florida Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism, and former member of the Florida Bar’s inaugural Diversity Committee.

From complex labor and employment counseling and litigation to general business matters, he has been representing the interests of entrepreneurs, public entities, and businesses of all sizes throughout the United States, including Florida and Georgia, for nearly 25 years. Atwood is also a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator. He has been recognized for his extensive experience in labor and employment law by Florida Super Lawyers and Atlanta Super Lawyers.

Atwood serves as President of the Lee County Bar Association Foundation and Vice-Chair of the Sidney & Berne Davis Arts Center Board of Directors. He is a member of the University of Florida Law Alumni Council. He previously served on the Executive Committee of the Dartmouth Club of Georgia. Atwood received his B.A. from Dartmouth College (with honors), his law degree from the University of Florida College of Law, and his M.A. from the College of William & Mary.
