Scott Atwood to Speak at Southwest Florida Air Conditioning Contractors Association’s September Meeting

Henderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt, P.A. is pleased to announce that stockholder Scott Atwood, Chair of the firm’s Employment Law Group, will be the featured speaker at the Southwest Florida Air Conditioning Contractors Association’s September meeting. The program will take place on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Embassy Suites, 10450 Corkscrew Commons, Estero, Florida. Members and non-members may attend. Atwood’s presentation, “Managing Overtime: Effective Email and Text Strategies for Employee Management,” will explore the intersection of communication and compliance in today’s workplace. He will discuss how employers can remain compliant with wage and hour obligations, including the accurate classification of workers and proper timekeeping practices, while also managing the risks associated with using text messages and emails in business settings. Atwood will explain how consistent documentation of employment-related communications not only establishes expectations but also supports disciplinary decisions and helps reduce legal risk. He shares,

This session will provide practical strategies for business owners to strengthen compliance and protect their organizations while maintaining effective management practices.”

Atwood brings more than three decades of experience advising businesses, public entities, and entrepreneurs on employment law matters, including wage and hour compliance, employee management, and workplace communication policies. He is also a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator.

Throughout his career, Atwood has been widely recognized for his work in employment law by Best Lawyers in America, Florida Super Lawyers and was named a “Top Lawyer” by Naples Illustrated for five consecutive years.
