Business Litigation Attorney Carlos Kelly to Lead CLE on Credibility and Trust in Mediation

Henderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt, P.A., is pleased to announce that stockholder Carlos Kelly will present a complimentary Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program, “What Attorneys Want from Their Mediators,” hosted by the Lee County Bar Association Alternative Dispute Resolution Section. The virtual complimentary program will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. via Zoom and has been approved for 1.0 Florida CLE credit.

During the program, Kelly will share practical insights into how attorneys evaluate and select mediators, the qualities and communication techniques that build credibility and trust and strategies that help move cases toward resolution. Discussion topics will include building credibility before mediation begins, gathering information that drives settlement discussions, effectively utilizing caucus sessions and drafting settlement agreements that help avoid future disputes.

Kelly said,

“The most effective mediators already understand that attorneys are looking for preparation, credibility and the ability to facilitate productive discussions. What makes this seminar different is that I will be reporting the results of my recent conversations with local lawyers about the specifics of what they need from their mediators.”

As a business litigator with decades of experience handling complex commercial disputes, Kelly has represented clients in matters involving shareholder and partnership disputes, contract claims, business torts, real estate litigation and other high-stakes conflicts. His extensive experience—both inside and outside the courthouse—and practical approach to dispute resolution provide him with a unique perspective on what attorneys value in the mediation process.
