Overview
Quinten Zak is an associate in Henderson Franklin’s Tort & Insurance Litigation Department. With a background in civil engineering and hands-on experience in the construction industry, Quinten brings a technical perspective to his legal practice, particularly in matters involving engineers, design professionals and construction-related disputes.
Before attending law school, Quinten worked in engineering and construction, gaining experience in both design and field operations. His work included designing parking lots, natural gas and water distribution systems, evaluating sites and utility lines and working in the field on construction projects. He also served as a paving intern with a St. Louis construction company, where he coordinated with subcontractors, prepared change orders and bids, and developed daily safety plans. These experiences gave Quinten firsthand insight into the technical, operational and safety considerations that can arise throughout a construction project.
Quinten’s engineering background also played a role in his decision to pursue law. While working on the design of natural gas and water distribution systems, he became increasingly interested in the legal issues surrounding projects, including easements and site safety. That interest ultimately led him to law school and continues to shape his interest in representing engineers, architects and other professionals whose work is integral to the built environment.
While attending Ave Maria School of Law, Quinten distinguished himself academically and through student leadership. He graduated summa cum laude, ranking third in his class, and received the St. Raymond of Penyafort Award for Excellence in Written Advocacy. He served as President of the Student Bar Association, Executive Articles Editor of the Law Review and Editor-in-Chief of the Gavel for Moot Court. Quinten also earned CALI Awards for achieving the highest grade in several courses, including Complex Litigation, Property, Civil Procedure and Torts.
Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Quinten earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, cum laude, from Missouri University of Science and Technology. Outside the office, he enjoys playing golf and following the Chicago Bears, White Sox and Blackhawks.
