Where Tradition Meets the Future®

Overview

Kelly Tackett brings her strong academic background and passion for advocacy to Henderson Franklin’s Business Litigation team. After graduating cum laude from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, she returns to Henderson Franklin as an associate after completing the firm’s Summer Associate Program. During her time in the program, she gained practical experience in a variety of areas, including employment law, breach of contract disputes, and real estate litigation, all of which have helped her develop a well-rounded approach to business litigation.

Kelly’s path to law was shaped by her love for reading and writing, along with the dynamic nature of trial work, which she finds both challenging and rewarding. During law school, she gained valuable hands-on experience through UF’s Gator Team Child Juvenile Law Clinic, where she helped represent children in the foster care system. Her additional experience includes interning with the 20th Circuit Public Defender’s Office, where she sharpened her litigation skills and deepened her commitment to client advocacy.

While at the University of Florida, Kelly distinguished herself academically, earning book awards for excellence in Trusts & Estates and Trial Practice. She also assisted professors with research on administrative law and children’s online privacy, enhancing her understanding of diverse legal issues.

In her free time, Kelly is a Cape Coral native and enjoys reading, spending time with her dog, and watching football. A devoted Florida Gators fan, she also loves attending live performances, having grown up involved in musical theater. One of her recent highlights was a trip to London, where she experienced her first West End show.

Professional and Civic Affiliations

Kelly has been actively involved in community service since 2021, volunteering as a Child Advocate with the Gainesville Guardian ad Litem program, where she represented the interests of children in foster care. She is eager to continue her pro bono work and community involvement now that she has returned to Southwest Florida.
