Overview
Kate McQuagge is an associate in Henderson Franklin’s Divorce, Marital and Family Law Department, where she assists clients with divorce and other family law matters. She brings a personal understanding of the challenges families can face during significant transitions and approaches her work with compassion, careful preparation and a focus on clear communication.
Kate’s interest in family law developed through both personal experience and her early legal work. Having seen firsthand how divorce can affect families, she was drawn to a practice where she could help people navigate difficult circumstances and make informed decisions about their future.
During law school, Kate gained practical family law experience as a legal assistant with a Tampa family law firm. She assisted with drafting court documents, organizing financial and personal records for litigation and communicating directly with clients regarding their cases. Her experience reinforced the importance of listening closely to clients, understanding their goals and developing an approach tailored to their individual circumstances.
Kate also served as a volunteer Guardian ad Litem while attending law school, advocating for children and their best interests in court proceedings. Earlier in her legal career, she worked with law firms in Fort Myers and Tallahassee, gaining additional exposure to criminal defense and civil law matters.
Kate earned her Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law, where she received an Academic Excellence Merit-Based Scholarship. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Humanities, cum laude, from Florida State University, where she was a Bright Futures Scholarship recipient and participated in the Women in Pre-Law Society.
Kate graduated from Fort Myers High School and is proud to begin her legal career in the community she calls home. Outside the office, she enjoys cooking, baking, discovering new restaurants and spending time with her rescue pit bull. Kate also enjoys staying active, drawing on her background as a former certified spin instructor and longtime competitive volleyball player.
