Regulatory Awareness. Attorneys Amanda Sharkey Ross and Monica Schmucker will discuss current regulatory entities and licensing requirements in the State of Florida. This presentation will thoroughly explain Florida’s applicable legislation and case law regarding important issues such as licensing termination, duties, advertising and recordkeeping.
Ethical Requirements. Attorneys Michael Corso and Madison Allen will share current marketing, regulatory, and ethical guidelines applicable to handling claims and selling insurance products in the state of Florida. The presentation will explore understanding industry products, suitability of sales and services as well as examining unfair methods of competition and unfair or deceptive acts. It will also explain the best approaches to recognizing required premium discounts.
Disciplinary and Industry Trends. Attorneys Robert Shearman and Jerry Olivo will educate insurance professionals on recent violations and enforcement of disciplinary actions against Florida Licensed Insurance Professionals. They will discuss recent cases, the violations of various statutes, and the discipline against the insurance professionals. We will also discuss Florida Statute 626.901 and relevant case law prohibiting insurance professionals from representing or selling products on behalf of insurers who are not authorized to conduct business in the State of Florida. Finally, we will go over recent informational memoranda issued in 2014, as well as recent and new terminology affecting Florida’s licensed insurance personnel.
