Robert C. Shearman is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law and concentrates his practice in the defense of tort, civil rights, employment and real estate claims. He is also a Florida Supreme Court certified civil mediator. Bob represents numerous public and private entities with respect to constitutional claims, wrongful termination, discrimination, and harassment matters. He also represents numerous law enforcement agencies and officers, and serves as attorney for the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Civil Service Board. In addition to litigating in state and federal court, Bob practices extensively before federal, state and local administrative agencies. Additionally, he represents real estate professionals in civil litigation and administrative actions.
Bob provides preventative harassment and discrimination training for employers, frequently lectures on employment law, real estate and tort litigation, and has been published in employment law journals. He also is a regular speaker at Henderson Franklin’s HR Law & Solutions educational seminar. Prior to working with Henderson Franklin, Bob practiced maritime law in Miami, Florida, representing vessel insurers, manufacturers, and shipyards.
Bob has been recognized by Florida Super Lawyers® magazine (2012-2014) and Florida Trend Magazine’s Legal Elite (2013) for his work in employment litigation defense. He is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
Bob and his wife, Susan, have three children, Kelsey, Brendan and Sean. He coaches youth sports and enjoys playing golf and boating.
Bob is a member of numerous professional associations and is past president of the Southwest Florida Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. He is a former member of the Inns of Court, Calusa Chapter, and has been recognized as a leading Florida attorney by the Law and Leading Attorneys Association.
Bob is an alumnus of Leadership Lee County and serves on the United Way Allocations committees. He has served several terms as president of his homeowners’ association and the Southwest Florida Seminole Booster Club. Bob is a former Big Brother and past trustee of the Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium. For several years, he has organized annual golf tournaments to benefit the United Way and other charities.
