John W. Lewis has been Board Certified in Civil Trial Law since 1991, and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida. John’s primary areas of trial practice include litigation involving the defense of automobile, premises and other tort liabilities; defense of school boards, cities, counties and other governmental entities; and civil rights litigation in state and federal court. John is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
John and his wife, Bonnie have two daughters, Jacquelyn Newman, a lawyer in Tallahassee, and Jennifer Canton, who lives in New Jersey and works in a Philadelphia law office. He has five grandchildren, Maggie and John Newman and Paul and Wes Canton. When he is not working, and it is football season, you will find John at every Seminole football game. He also enjoys skiing, golf and running, having completed six marathons.John is a member of the Florida Defense Lawyers Association, Defense Research Institute, American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), and an original member of the Calusa Inns of Court Chapter. He is also past president of the Lee County Bar Association.
